  • Spain – Drivers Licences

    There are 4 different navigation licenses, depending on the length of the boat and the intended range of sailing offshore: Capit?n de Yate: Allows navigation with no length or distance limit; Patr?n de Yate: Maximum distance-60 miles. Length up to 20 mts. P.E.R.: Maximum distance – 12 mls, Maximum length – 12 m; Navegaci?n B?sica: Maximum distance – 5 mls.; Maximum length (sail) – 8 m; Maximum length (motor) – 7.5 m; No driver licences required under 5 mts. Length (sail) or 4 mts. and 11,03 KW (motor). Delimited distances by the local authority and only with sun light. From March 2002 the PWC need any of the licences described or a special brand-new one. Foreigners sailing with Spanish flag, can do so with equivalent license in their country.

  • Norway – Drivers Licences

    Lincences mandatory for all boats longer then 15 m (LOA). Licences for boats over 7 meters and/or with more than 25hp will be in effect from May 1. 2010 for all boaters born after Jan. 1 1980.

  • New Zealand – Drivers Licences

    No drivers licences required for private pleasure boats.

  • Australia – Drivers Licences

    Driving licences required in most states, categorised by type, length and power of vessel. Educational programmes in place in some states in lieu of licensing.

  • Germany – Drivers Licences

    Driving licences for all boats more than 11.03 kW in force. Additional requirements have been introduced in certain districts (e.g. Berlin, Bodensee, river Rhein).

  • Czech Republic – Drivers Licences

    Seagoing yachts up to 24m hull length. C – coastal waters up to 20 miles from the coastline and LOA up to 16m, B – offshore up to 200 miles from the coastline,and LOA up to 24m A – ocean – without limitations Inland waterways – driving licence for small crafts up to 20m LOA, engine pover over 4 kW and sail area over 12 sqm

  • Turkey – Drivers Licences

    “Certificate of Competence for operators of Pleasure Craft”” licence is required for all private pleasure boats.”” Certificate of Competence for SHORT RANGE Radio operators”” SRC is also compulsory if you carry a VHF .

  • Poland – Drivers Licences

    Skipper of a boat (sailboat, motorboat or PWC) must be at least 14 years old. Inland Skipper Certificate of Competency (sailboat or motorboat) gives right to drive yachts or motorboats in inland waterways and the boats length up to 12 m on internal sea waters and other marine waters in a zone up to 2 nautical miles from shore in the daytime. (Persons under the age of 16 may exercise their permissions on motorboats with an engine power up to 60 kW) Marine Skipper Certificate of Competency (sailbot or motorboat) gives right to drive yachts or motorboats length up to 18 m on marine waters. Captain’s Certificate of Competency (sailboat or motorboat) gives right to drive yachts or motorboats in inland waterways and on marine waters. No driving license is required for: – driving sailboats lenght up 7,5 m (which may be equipped with an auxiliary mechanical driving gear) – driving motorboats up to 10 kW – practicing water tourism on motorboats with an engine power up to 75 kW with a hull length up to 13 m , where the maximum speed is structurally limited to 15 km / h

  • South Africa – Drivers Licences

    All vessels over 15HP, and sailing vessels over 9m, require that the driver holds a skippers ticket, which is referred to as a Certificate of Competence. There are 5 different categories of Certificates of Competence and many of them require sea time

  • Canada – Drivers Licences

    As of September 2009, all powerboat operators in Canada required to have prove of competency to operate a boat. A test is to be taken – course providers regulated by Transport Canada.
