Description

A method for determining the ultimate biodegradability of organic compounds has been developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and published as 1 SO 9439. Internationally recognised methods for the assessment of aquatic toxicity have been published by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has provided a lubricating oil test procedure, NMMA TCW3TM, which will help boaters recognise lubricating oils which ensure that the engine life designed by marine engine manufacturers will be achieved. This international Standard adopts these test procedures and specifies limits by which the quality of such lubricating oils may be defined.
