The Singapore Boating Industry Association (SBIA) serves as the primary representative body for the recreational marine sector in Singapore and represents it on the global stage through our membership in ICOMIA.
Our journey began in 2011 when we were initially established to host the ICOMIA World Marina Conference in Singapore that year. Since then, we have evolved and expanded to encompass all facets of the recreational marine sector, with a primary focus on fostering the growth and development of the domestic sector. While manufacturing and export play a role, they represent a smaller portion of our industry’s scope.
Singapore stands as a prominent seaport and maritime hub, with numerous stakeholders and interests converging within the same economic and physical space. Consequently, the boating industry in our region is subject to rigorous regulation, involving numerous public agencies. It is in this complex landscape that the need for a unified voice becomes paramount.
In 2015, SBIA took a monumental step forward by launching the Asia Boating Dialogue, a collaborative effort with ICOMIA that effectively advances many of our core objectives. This initiative has both strengthened our presence and catalysed the formation of the ICOMIA Asia Working Group. Together, we are charting a course towards a vibrant and harmonious future for the recreational marine industry in our region.
