This week ICOMIA is at the Miami International Boat Show, and it’s another key week for ICOMIA as it joins forces with the European Boating Industry (EBI) and NMMA to present their Global LCA collaboration which was announced in January at BOOT, Dusseldorf.
A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach is the only valid way of calculating and therefore measuring and reducing environmental impacts. As leisure marine is such a unique industry category, it needs to develop its own framework for measurement and reporting.
A Life Cycle Assessment considers everything, from the extraction of the raw materials used in production, the fuel, spares and maintenance during the use phase and finally how boats are handled at end-of-life.
