NMMA Hosts Discover Boating Marketing Leadership Summit at IBEX

At IBEX 2024, NMMA hosted the Discover Boating Marketing Leadership Summit.

The event, which was aimed specifically at recreational marine marketing personnel, featured a rockstar line-up of speakers which included strategy author and adviser Rishad Tobaccowala whose presentation titled ‘Change happens slowly – until it happens quickly’ was inspiring and thought-provoking.

ICOMIA CEO Joe Lynch attended the event which focused on the challenges and opportunities of having 40% of your population identify as racially or ethnically diverse, yet only 16% of your customers do, especially if 30% of that demographic don’t see themselves as ‘fitting in’ with the boating community.

There were presentations from high-profile marketing leaders outside the industry, with some great learning opportunities which show us what we can learn from them and vice versa, especially within the media landscape, sports and luxury goods.

The event also included insights into how marketing can adapt to connect with younger generations, where values are more important than assets and status now means ‘voice’ rather than ‘assets’ and a strategy session aimed at framing the future of Discover Boating.
