The International Council of Marine Industry Associations, ICOMIA, in partnership with the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers, IFBSO, return from another successful Annual Congress, this year held in Sanremo, Italy.Congress is a chance for member associations to get together to discuss important issues in the recreational boating industry, with a variety of committees, workshops and meetings taking place during the week. Congress is also the time when ICOMIA holds the AGM, this year announcing changes to the constitution with the development of a Board of Directors as well as the appointment of a new CEO.The AGM also had the opportunity of appointing a new Honorary Member, Mr YP Loke from the Singapore Boating Industry Association, SBIA.Mr Loke joined ICOMIA in the late 1990s as an individual member and has been a very strong contributor to ICOMIA since then, forming SBIA in 2011 and hosting the World Marinas Conference the same year. The AGM appointed Mr Loke on the recommendation of the ICOMIA Executive Committee which awards Honorary Membership to show the highest appreciation for services to ICOMIA.Tony Rice, Acting Secretary General of ICOMIA, said: “We are delighted to welcome YP as an Honorary Member of ICOMIA. He has done so much work over the years to promote the work and image of ICOMIA in SE Asia, often single-handedly, and we very much look forward to continuing our long and happy working relationship.”Next year’s ICOMIA/IFBSO Annual Congress was also announced which will be held in La Rochelle, France.
