The Portuguese Association of Recreational Harbours (APPR) has joined the ICOMIA Marinas Group. Established in 1992, APPR is a not-for-profit organisation representing 20 recreational marina and port facilities.
The ICOMIA Marinas Group’s (IMG) mission is to be recognised globally as the peak Marina Industry body with respect to planning, development and best practice management for marinas, boat harbours, boat storage and service facilities, waterways access and associated infrastructure for recreational boating throughout the world. In 2011, the group held the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference in Singapore, which focused on the global marina industry in particular marina operations, management, planning and development.
APPR unifies Portugal’s recreational marina and port facilities and represents its members within government and associated industries. Associated with the European Blue Flag Association (ABAE), APPR encourages sustainable development of marinas through strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information and environmental management.
“I am very pleased to welcome APPR into the ICOMIA Marinas Group” said Tony Rice, ICOMIA’s Secretary General.
